Anyone interested in ringing Phil on Valentine's Day?

Aly Borromeo reminds us that he is NOT single.
Simon Greatwich reminds us that he IS in fact single, and manages to swoon us with his voice.
Classic Phil Younghusband. Watch it.

Phil, all I need is your number. No more lonely Valentine's Days for you. ;)

From a segment of ABS-CBN's Showbiz News Ngayon.

Some good-looking people featured on Inquirer

It's a shame the Philippine Daily Inquirer didn't post decently-sized images online for their article. I must say it was fun to read however.

"Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows. I once cried in a movie because it was sad. It was 'Marley and Me,' directed by David Frakel, starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. "
I'm guessing I'm not the only one who noticed Mark's bare midsection in his photograph:

"What’s the most unique thing about you? I have an obsession with looking at my phone and contacting everyone at all times, but in the Philippines, this seems like a common thing, so maybe it’s just me. (Laughs)."
"What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you on the field? One time, we were four goals behind, and then I was able to score five goals—so we won that game!"
"What’s your guilty pleasure? I go to the cinema, watch movies. I also go shopping, hang out, maybe eat.
What do you like eating? That’s hard. Maybe pizza."
"Do you have other hobbies aside from football? I’m into a lot of sports! (It was reported in Sun Star Cebu that he is into basketball, swimming, tennis, and billiards). I have a band, 6 Years to Fame. We play alternative rock."
"What’s the craziest fan moment you’ve had? Nothing too crazy, yet. Everybody’s been really good. Really friendly! So far everybody has kept within the boundaries of how it should be."
"What’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever done for a girl? Well, I’m not really a romantic type so … (Turns to his fellow players) Give me some ideas, I need to be clean here. I bought one girl a Coach bag. Yeah, seriously. One time, we were in Metrowalk, there was a girl singing on the stage, and people were writing down their song requests and giving it to the girl, but Eddie Mallari encouraged me to write my phone number and give it to the girl. She texted me later, but I lost my phone, so nothing really happened."
I guess crazy runs in the family. Simon's starting to sound like Chris now.

Azkals being funny online

It pays to follow them. You're rewarded with a few giggles.

Take Phil, for instance.

The imagery! James strangling Phil and Phil fighting for his life with a pencil. Priceless.

Also, knowing how big of a Federer fan Phil is is quite funny too.

Rob Gier acts senile when in truth he doesn't look a day over 25 T.T

Jason De Jong gets angry on Facebook.
This, I've got to clarify first. A picture was posted on his fanpage saying that Jason has had 18 caps for the Philippines, which he corrects below. The first "Jason Dantes de Jong" that comments here is the real Jason. The second one is the moderator of the fan page. Look what happens:

That's okay, Jason. You're still cute when you're angry. ;) It actually reminded me of this tweet of Neil's.

Of course Chris Greatwich will never be excluded from this list. He won the poll, actually.

Mark Drinkuth and Patrick Herget understand Mark McMahon's gayness.
Basically Mark McMahon commented on a super fly picture taken of William Gueridon and Patrick and Markinho reply with this here below: (By the way Patrick mentions Islam Ahmed, a Fil-Egyptian who tried out for the  squad)

Mark Drinkuth is my hero :D haha

Speaking of Mark, he recently posted a photo album of his time in Manila. A few photos made me laugh. This one, especially:

Maybe because he looked like a dorky cutie next to another cutie posing beside a jeepney, or the fact that they basically went through the standard operating procedure of being a tourist in the Philippines. I don't know. My brain can't handle it. They further fulfill their tourist image by learning the language:

I didn't even know they made "Learn Tagalog" CDs haha. However I think it's sweet they're taking time to learn. I hear Patrick's even hired a teacher to learn Filipino. Maybe when he's not obsessing over his blue boots, he'll have time to learn. Good luck.

The Simon Greatwich love triangle

Heavy sigh. Everyone's trying to be like Chris Greatwich these days... even Anton. Don't worry, Simon Greatwich fans, this is just harmless teasing. Harmless. -_-

To make up for that displeasing thing that happened right there, this little thing happened:

I'm sorry, Anton, but you're just going to have to get used to the fact that Neil and Simon belong to each other. Go find someone else... like Okto, maybe.

Anton's been trying to involve himself with Simon Greatwich's love life. Stop doing our job, Anton. ;)

Philippine Football 101 a.k.a. that Azkals feature on "Patrol ng Pilipino"

If I wanted to make a "Philippine football so far" feature, it would look like this.
The amount of footage is unbelievably awesome. We've got more or less everyone in here. Including the new ones!

This video documents the journey of the Azkals from winning the group stage of the AFF Suzuki Cup, to the PFF President drama, to the first UMak training ever, to the government recognition, to the hype, to the semi-finals matches, to the Indonesian hostility, to the Indonesian hospitality, to the return back home, to the scared-faced airport reception (haha), to the coach drama, to the new coach, to the tryouts for the AFC Challenge Cup. It's all here.

Neil Etheridge on GMA News Facebook

The folks over at GMA News' Facebook page get to video chat with Neil and we don't. I think he was interviewed from home, so I think that's how his wall looks like! Does it look like yours? Are you living together? Haha moving on...

Video # 1
Neil greets "Kapuso" fans. Kuh-poo-sow

Video # 2
Can you let us in on that "massive decision?"
  • That "massive decision" was on playing for the Azkals and Neil wanted to leave that tweet as a "cliff-hanger." Neil's trying to be as entertaining as Chris Greatwich, you all. ;)
  • Watch Neil's brainwaves take form at about 0:25 as he figures out what date on February the Saturday before the game is.

Video # 3
Have you spoken to Coach Simon yet?
  • No he hasn't spoken to Simon personally but he knows about the drama.
What do you think of Coach Weiss?
  • He hasn't spoken to ANYONE except for the goalkeeping coach. Aww poor Neil talk to me instead.

Video # 4
Do you think your Azkals stint influenced the Fulham decision to bump you to first team?
  • Well... yeah kinda... they were probably influenced. The Fulham manager watched the Suzuki Cup.
How do you feel about making it to the first team?
  • Making it to the first team is like making it to PBA in the Philippines. Yeah. He said PBA. He also mentioned his fanbase. That's us! :D
How did you handle offers from Indonesian clubs?
  • He loves the Premier League too much to leave it. So no. Haha Neil.

Video # 5
When did the idea on playing for the Azkals come about?
  • Three or four years ago. Called via Younghusband via Chelsea (he was ironically with Chelsea at that time). A year later called for the Challenge Cup and had to make the decision to play for the Philippines - which he is very happy about.
Do you see yourself staying with the Azkals long-term?
  • "As far as I know, I the #1 at the moment" -> Yes. In my list, too ;)

Video # 6
What do you like most about the Philippines?
  • The fans and the people. Second time he's mentioned us.
What is your favorite place here?
  • Neil's a "massive fan of Manila."
What is your favorite Filipino food?
  • Adobo. Any form of adobo. There's proof. Better start learning to make it.
Chris Greatwich said your Twitter was fake?
  • Chris Greatwich has too much time in his hands. Haha he said it!
Are you single?
  • Yes, he's single and he's not taking anyone to Paris because he's a very selective person a.k.a. just Simon Greatwich
Are you interested in joining showbiz?
  • YES HE IS INTERESTED in joining showbiz because it's fun to be in front of a camera. Am I hearing this right? Didn't he just say that he wasn't because football's his priority? I'll look for that video...
  • He greets fans in the end. Third mention. ;)

Want to know how they sound like: Patrick Herget and Mark McMahon

Yet another installment of "Want to know how they sound like?"
Mark's Scottish accent is adorable.
Patrick is adorable.

Watch the full segment below:

Patrick (Hugger) Herget and Markinho's return

Because he's cute enough to Herget.

Remember Patrick Herget from this article? Well he's arrived and now I'm just waiting for the rest! Especially Oliver Pötschke.
I'm sure it won't be long until he becomes an actual model. With looks like that.

He's "just proud to be Filipino." An excerpt from GMA's video should be enough to show you how cute he is. Mind the accent. I'm jealous Chino Trinidad gets to high five him.

Also,

Mark Drinkuth finally shows up in training!

It seemed like only yesterday when we were asking him where he was. He was no longer in the squad list for the semi-finals of the Suzuki Cup, although he was in the previous Suzuki Cup games. This sneaky cutie left for Germany before the semi-finals for educational obligations but he's finally back! He's also competing for the SEA Games in the latter part of the year so I'll guess we'll be able to stalk him more he'll stick around more often. ;)

Anton loved (old)Coach, too

Well at least he's "shaking" excited for the Panaad game! Cute

Mark "Biceps" McMahon

With the exception of Neil('s perfect body), the Azkals generally sport the "I-look-starved-but-my-abs-look-better-than-yours" image (ex. James and Chris).  So when a new Azkal comes in with glorious guns, we appreciate.

Here with Ian:

Mark Elardo McMahon
Baby just turned 19
Half-Scottish
Knows Bisaya
Does Muay Thai
6 feet tall

By the way he likes doing the "pogi-pose" like a true Filipino.

Azkals Train in UMak for the AFC Challenge Cup

Fan pictures:
via AzkalsBite

Taken by cookiecaliao

Azkals(Younghusbands) on Sapul

Where Phil shows us his new haircut and where James finally talks! about the change in coach :'(

How do you like the new trim?

Chris Greatwich manages to scare the hell out of us

He eventually takes it back, of course, by saying he's actually Jason.

After which my heart melted because Chris mentioned Jason's name, and that I think I will bug Chris about getting Jason as Twitter.

Moral of the story by quoting Chris myself:
Unless @SimonGreatwich @Neil38Etheridge say it, then take what you read with a pinch of salt!

It's just Chris being Chris. -_-

Choose your Fil-German

From that whole Germany experience that gave us more players and removed a beloved coach from us, three people caught my attention. I think they'll catch yours too.

L-R: Patrick Reichelt, Oliver Pötschke, Patrick Herget

I very much believe it's time to update my "Boys We Love" page. There are about four more Fil-Germans I have to add. Perhaps I will update it to include these boys after we see them in action on Febuary. ;)

Patrick Herget
Baby's only 19.
December 30, 1991
Has an official Facebook Page!

Oliver Pötschke
This one's mine.
Febuary 13, 1987
Another good-looking February celebrant ;)

Patrick Reichelt
June 15, 1988
He's a striker. Perfect. We need more of those in our team.
Will probably keep Ian and Phil company in the front ;)

It's getting harder and harder to choose a favorite.

Phil thinks he's amazing just the way he is

That guesting on RX 93.1 screamed of self-obsession from "the star player" and we hoped deep in our hearts that his conceitedness (although funny and entertaining beyond belief) is just for laughs.

This clip is probably the thesis statement of the whole 3-hour long segment. I've even included the actual song in the background for those who... don't want to hear just Phil's singing voice.

See, nothing to worry about:

Azkals on Rated K

Proof that Phil Younghusband is obsessed with Twitter his Blackberry. He missed a 10-yard free kick probably because he was holding his phone in his hand. Whatever at least he replies to our tweets. :)
I must say that I very much appreciate Anton being interviewed briefly here.

Still cute. ;)
I have to say the girl was really funny! I wish I could translate it to English so our Indonesian readers can understand. :)

For those who missed the Jessica Soho segment

The head coach of our hearts is a gentleman

Amidst what might be the messiest coach-transfer process in Philippine football history, Simon McMenemy still remains to be cutest GQMF in the world.

New coach is Hans Michael Weiss, by the way. All part of the Germany visit.

So this happened, complete with television coverage, etc.

Poor Simon wasn't informed of it apparently and had to get the rest of the details from Facebook. Poor coach.

But then in spite of the heartbreak, he tweets this:

This is what really happened, from Dan Palami's Facebook:

Everyone's cool, coach and Dan Palami will talk, etc. It's so cute how Coach still kept telling people to support the Azkals, even if he isn't coaching them.
Come to think of it I think I should stop calling him coach as that title no longer belongs to him. I might start calling him on a first-name basis instead. It will sound like Simon and I know each other. Right? Right.

Although, still fairly depressing news as he was very good looking as a coach. I'm quite fond of his heavy defensive set-up that left no holes for attacking players of the opposing team. Plus, he's very, very good-looking. I would have wanted to see more of him during the games.

PS: Why didn't they just keep him in the first place?
Apparently Simon (told ya first name basis) doesn't have a UEFA coaching permit necessary to coach the team for the following games. This is when Germany enters. They offered to help the national team, complete with training camps and more underwear models players to add to the roster -- all for free. Included in the package is a selection of coaches to coach the Azkals while Simon is out fixing his papers. In the end, we exchanged the whole Germany experience for Simon. :( We're all trying to move forward here, people. And if it entails leaving Simon behind, then so be it. I think I'm going to cry now.

More handsome coming our way

So our manager Dan Palami went to Frankfurt to get some help from the German Football Association (DFB). Mr. Palami is looking for more talents for his modelling agency German football players with Filipino lineage. He left with a couple Fil-German cuties up his sleeve and is coming back with many more...

How cute is Mark Drinkuth? How cute is Manny Ott? How cute it Manny's beanie?
You don't know how excited I am to know who these players are for they are handsome and will grace the pages of this blog soon enough.

It's just like looking for more handsome people around Germany. Man, I wish I had this job.

More pictures in Mark's fanpage.

Someone's getting jealous

Not only is Chris Greatwich the funniest and meanest Tweeter in the world, he is also starting to get a little irked by all the attention to Neil, don't you think?

When requested to send Neil her love:

When asked if Neil has a Twitter:

When asked how close Neil and Simon are (probably inspired by this picture):

When asked who's tough on girls:

I could almost see Chris' (T.T)-face while replying to those tweets haha.
Don't worry, Chris, in time you'll reach Hollywood status like Phil and "Jimbo." Just keep doing your riddles and you'll get there!

Oh, and did I mention Chris won the $100 bet that he'll get a thousand followers overnight? Yeah, and it only took nine hours.

*MORE Lovers' quarrel*

"James is a better dancer than he is a singer" - Phil

He must be an awful singer then. Haha
But really, this is a new side of James we see here, the slightly more confident dork. It's reminding me of that question to the brothers when asked what they'd do if they were each other's brother for a day. This.

Proof once again that our national team is the best out there.

Who would've thought

I guess they're more appreciated as a bromance and not as individuals.
